I am on the bus headed to the Olympic Ceremonies, sitting next to Dave Ogrean from USA Hockey who was apart of the Miracle on Ice . We had to go through security at a hotel 15 blocks away (they are using lots of hotels). After the Mounties told me I was ok - though they did mention that most people aren't carrying 3 cell phones - they held us in a holding area for about an hour and half. I was actually one of the first people in the holding area. It was fun to watch all the people from all the countried roll in. Very few Americans....Canadians, Swiss, Turkish, Estonians, and then I saw some Georgians....so sad.
I quickly made a new friend whose husband is the sole member of the Nepali Olympic team. He is a cross country skier. She is actually French living in Geneva.....I'm guessing 60 years old. I could only understand about 20 percent of what she was saying to me but it was fun. In any event that led to me meeting the entire Nepali delagation....three people. My new friend's name is Annie Sherpa. I thought that was funny.
Then I ran into Senator Sam Nunn and talked to him for quite sometime. As I said not many Americans there, but what kinda odd could you have gotten on two of them being neighbors in the deep South.
I gotta start taking pictures.
Pulling in now!
